Caldwell: Roberts is safe as Lions' return man

The Detroit Lions haven't gotten much production out of their return game this year, but coach Jim Caldwell said embattled returner Andre Roberts is in no danger of losing his job.

Roberts averaged just 22.7 yards on his three kickoff returns in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Lions' average field position following kickoffs was at their own 21-yard line.

In a new rule this year, NFL teams start at their own 25-yard line following kickoff touchbacks.

"I think, in a number of different situations there, we need to block better, give the guy a little bit more of a crack to go," Caldwell said.
