The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that they have signed safety Kaevon Merriweather off of the Detroit Lions practice squad and onto their 53-man roster.
Merriweather, a Detroit-area native and Belleville High School alumnus, joined the Lions practice squad just a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, the second-year defensive back never was elevated to suit up for his hometown team on game day.
His signing with the Buccaneers will be a reunion, as they are the team he initially joined as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2023. He made their active roster out of training camp and ended up starting two games for Tampa Bay that season.
