The Detroit Lions brought in cornerback Darrin Walls on Tuesday, signing him to a one-year deal. He chose the Lions because he believes there's a chance to compete for a major role in the secondary opposite Darius Slay.
His contract suggests he will be part of that competition with not much guaranteed.
Walls signed a veteran minimum deal with a base salary of $760,000 along with an $80,000 signing bonus. His cap number is $680,000 and only $80,000 of that is dead money. Unlike other contracts new Lions general manager Bob Quinn has done, this deal has no workout or roster bonuses.
