The Detroit Lions were a game out of first place in the NFC North when they sent Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles at the October trade deadline, but general manager Bob Quinn said Friday that move was not a response to a blowout loss a few days earlier to the Seattle Seahawks.
The Lions lost two straight games and six of their final nine after dealing Tate, and finished with a 6-10 record and in last place in the division.
"Those decisions, midseason trades, I had to take that kind of out of the equation," Quinn said Friday, in his first public comments since the trade.
