A year ago at this time, DeAndre Levy looked like he was well on his way back from hip surgery.
He practiced with the Detroit Lions in the spring and was on pace to start last fall, so much so that the Lions did little to insure themselves in case of a setback.
Well, the inevitable happened last summer, and when Levy missed 11 games during the season with knee injuries, the Lions were ill-equipped to deal with his loss. Spare-part backups Josh Bynes and Jon Bostic also got hurt, and at one point Kyle Van Noy and Thurston Armbrister were playing significant snaps on defense.
