ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions finalized their initial 53-man roster on Saturday. Here are eight quick thoughts about the moves.
Most surprising player who didn't make it: DeShawn Shead, obviously. He was a good cornerback in Seattle, and there was a market for him in free agency. The Lions gave him a one-year, $3.35 million deal that included $1.6 million in guarantees. Clearly, they liked Shead. They put him in the starting lineup for the first couple weeks of camp. And now he's out of a job heading into the regular season. Yeah, that's a bit of a stunner.
