The Detroit Lions enter their bye week with a 2-3 record, good enough to remain in striking distance of the rest of the NFC North teams. Based on the team’s first five games, it is hard to discern whether the Lions are contenders or pretenders.
The Lions’ two victories came against the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers, arguably two of the most competitive teams in the NFL.
The team’s three losses came against the New York Jets, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Dallas Cowboys – all of which currently have more losses than wins.
