EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Andre Roberts had never practiced it. But he remembered it.
So when the Detroit Lions returner saw the ball bouncing by the sideline to open the second half Sunday against the New York Giants, he pounced on the opportunity.
Roberts placed his leg out of bounds, fell on the ball in bounds and ended up getting a penalty for a kickoff out of bounds called on the Giants, giving the Lions the ball on the Giants 40-yard line. It was the same penalty the Lions had called on them in Week 3 when Green Bay’s Ty Montgomery did the same thing against the Lions.
