Ameer Abdullah named NFC special teams player of the week

Running back was named NFC special teams player of the week for his performance vs. the Packers:

  • Abdullah's 104-yard kickoff return to start the second half against Green Bay is tied for the third-longest kickoff return in Lions history, and the longest since Stefan Logan's 105-yard return touchdown against St. Louis October 10, 2010. The return is also the longest non-scoring play in team history.
  • The return by Abdullah is the second longest kickoff return by a Lions rookie in team history (CB Terry Fair, 105t vs. TB 9/28/98).
  • Abdullah’s 104-yard kickoff return tied an NFL record for the longest non-scoring play in history (Vikings WR Percy Harvin, 104 yards at Atl 11/27/11).
