ALLEN PARK -- Ameer Abdullah touched the football 978 times while he was at Nebraska. He was a workhorse ground down to the nub. But somehow, he never missed a game because of injury.
Not there. Not as an NFL rookie. Never in his life.
Then he missed 14 of them this season.
"I was humbled, really," Abdullah said late Monday morning as he cleared out his locker for the season. "I had never missed a game before up until this year. Learned I got to appreciate what (I) do have a lot more than I was.
