ALLEN PARK -- Michael Roberts looked promising as a rookie. Sure, he caught only four passes. But his blocking came a long way, as did his knowledge of the offense. And his hands didn't go anywhere.
So the thinking was he'd be ready to make a leap in Year 2, especially once Eric Ebron and Darren Fells went elsewhere in free agency.
"I just got to handle business, and come back next year a dog," Roberts said as he cleaned out his locker last season. "A beast."
But that hasn't happened.
Roberts started camp strong enough, but suffered an injury that kept him out a few days.
