After holding out, Lions finally add cheerleaders

The Lions had been one of a few NFL teams without cheerleaders.

They have decided to reverse course and will feature cheerleaders starting this season, they announced Monday.

There are now six NFL teams without an affiliated cheerleading squad – the Bills, Bears, Browns, Packers, Giants and Steelers.

“The Ford Family is unwavering in their commitment to improving the Detroit Lions fan experience on and off the field,” said team president Rod Wood. “After thorough consideration and receiving input from our fans through season ticket member surveys and focus groups, we believe that this is an opportunity to elevate our game day entertainment.
