On Wednesday, Detroit Lions linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard delivered one of his best press conferences of the career. He was energetic, informative, humble yet spoke with a confidence about himself and the franchise. Sheppard hasn’t been coaching for a long time. Hell, he was playing in the NFL just six years ago.
But sometimes you can just tell when an NFL coach “has it,” and from the minute Sheppard stepped in front of the podium, it was clear he had that x-factor. So it should come as little surprise that on Thursday, defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn let it slip that he’s been mentoring Sheppard to be a defensive coordinator in this league.
