ALLEN PARK -- Most folks seem to understand the economic and market forces that pushed the Matthew Stafford deal into the stratosphere.
Is he the best player in the game? No. Is he the best player in the history of the game? Uh, no. But the Detroit Lions gave him a five-year deal worth a record $27 million annually anyway because he's a good quarterback. And that's the going rate for good quarterbacks.
Something the Lions haven't had in a long, long time.
