8 Detroit Lions players officially change jersey numbers

One common occurrence after teams cut down from 90 players to 53 is for the remaining players to change to more palatable numbers. For example, a guy like rookie cornerback Amani Oruwariye took #46 into training camp—an odd and awkward looking number—but is switching to a more cornerback-like 24 for the regular season.

Now that several numbers have opened up, Oruwariye is just one of many Lions players to have changed their number heading into Week 1. Here’s a look at the new changes (according to the Lions’ official website):

Travis Fulgham: 14 (from 84)
Tracy Walker: 21 (from 47)
Amani Oruwariye: 24 (from 46)
Will Harris: 25 (from 43)
Ty Johnson: 31 (from 38)
Jonathan Duhart: 12 (from 1)
Mark Thompson: 36 (from 49)
Josh Johnson: 8 (from 4)

The Lions also have a few new faces on the team.
