With Mac Jones out with a high ankle sprain and Brian Hoyer out with a concussion, the Patriots turned to third-string rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe on Sunday. That’s a tough task for any team. As it turns out, the Patriots had the perfect opponent to beat up on with their young, inexperienced backup quarterback.
With their defense dominating the NFL's top-scoring Detroit Lions, Zappe and the offense had no problems moving the ball against the worst ranked defense in the NFL.
It was a perfect afternoon in New England. You had the Patriots wearing their old throwback red jerseys and donning the old Pat Patriot white helmets.
