According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Detroit Lions are waiving cornerback Steven Gilmore.
The move comes after Gilmore spent a year on the Lions’ roster as an undrafted rookie last year. He would make only three game appearances, but Detroit was hopeful he would develop into a contributor later in his career.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear he made those advancements quickly enough to make Detroit’s cornerback room. Early in training camp, coach Dan Campbell noted that they need him to take it to another level.
“Gilmore has got ability and I still feel like he needs a whole other notch,” Campbell said.
