Ahead of every Detroit Lions game in 2024, we will provide readers with an updated depth chart of the team’s roster based on what we are seeing at practices.
The preseason offers a unique look at the team. Not only are the Lions eligible to roster up to 90 players during training camp, but we also get a chance to see how Detroit’s offseason moves have influenced their scheme/strategies.
If you’ve followed along with our depth charts in previous seasons, you may notice some updated tweaks to our approach in 2024. Once again, the Lions have altered their defensive scheme to adapt to their personnel, showing two basic packages in practices: 1) their “Base,” which is a modified 5-2 front, that includes a SAM linebacker; and 2) their “Nickel,” which is a more familiar 4-2 front with five defensive backs.
