An NFL roster is never truly finalized. That’s why when the Detroit Lions made their roster cuts on Tuesday, we referred to it as the Detroit Lions’ initial 53* man roster. In most cases, that initial roster doesn’t even stay the same for 24 hours.
On Wednesday, teams will scour the list of over 900 players waived or released to see if they could upgrade their initial 53-man roster. The Lions may have one of the best rosters in the league, but they will not pass on the opportunity to upgrade at specific positions, as evidenced by the fact that they’re already reportedly signing former Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick to their practice squad.
