The Detroit Lions certainly had an unconventional 2024 NFL Draft. Lions general manager Brad Holmes traded up four times in the first six rounds—digging twice into 2025 draft picks for 2024 fourth-round picks. There were also a few surprising picks along the way. They opened the draft with back-to-back cornerback selections, and then early on Day 3, they grabbed an offensive lineman that many believed wasn’t going to get drafted.
However, they finished with arguably two of the biggest “steals” in the sixth round.
When all was said and done, there was certainly a coherent vision to the Lions’ plan.
