2019 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions take RB Ty Johnson in the sixth round

After taking Old Dominion wide receiver Travis Fulgham just two picks earlier in the sixth round, the Detroit Lions have selected running back Ty Johnson out of Maryland with the 186th overall pick.

Speed is the name of the game for Johnson, a late-round prospect who became just the fourth Maryland Terpin of all time to surpass 4,000 all-purpose yards in four years.

Johnson actually considered entering the draft last year, but eventually had second thoughts and returned for a senior season. Though it wasn’t his most productive year, Johnson left his college career with a degree and an impressive 7.
