ALLEN PARK -- The fullback is coming back to Detroit, which used its final pick of the NFL draft to select San Diego State's Nick Bawden at 237th overall.
The Lions had phased the fullback from the offense under Jim Bob Cooter in recent years, but are amidst a total overhaul of their run game. They drafted Kerryon Johnson in the second round, signed LeGarrette Blount in free agency and hired Jeff Davidson to retool the blocking concepts. And now they're bringing back the fullback.
The moves are in reaction to Detroit falling back into last place in rushing for the second time in three years.
