Stephen Tulloch is going to want this one back.
The Lions LB was absolutely elated after bringing down Packers QB Aaron Rodgers for a sack, and celebrated by jumping into Rodgers' signature 'discount double check' celebration. Tulloch appeared to strain something in his left knee and went down immediately in serious pain, and tests have revealed he tore his left ACL.
Tulloch, Detroit's starting middle linebacker, will miss the remainder of the season. Detroit HC Jim Caldwell confirmed Monday that Tulloch will undergo surgery soon and has been placed on season-ending injured reserve. Third-year LB Travis Lewis is expected to move into the starting lineup to replace Tulloch.
"It's unfortunate," Tulloch said. "You're passionate about the game and you want to get up and celebrate, and it happened. People do it a million times, but unfortunately that it happened to me. But like I said, I've been healthy for nine years of my career; I've never missed a game, let alone damn near plays. Sitting on the sideline is new to me. It's sickening. But I'll be all right. I'll get back right and be able to help this team move forward, if everything goes well."
Through three games this season, Tulloch had registered 20 tackles and two sacks.
