LAS VEGAS — Thomas Welsh will eventually put his UCLA economics degree to good use, perhaps as a financial adviser for athletes.
But the 7-footer is not currently concerned with life after basketball. As the only 2018 Nuggets draft pick participating in NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Welsh is presented with a prime chance to show why Denver took him with the 58th overall selection.
“It’s special,” Welsh said. “(Getting drafted) something I’ve dreamed of for my whole life. At the end of the day, it’s just an opportunity for me. That’s all I can really ask for.
