The Denver Nuggets have never won an NBA or ABA title dating all the way back to 1967 when they were the Denver Rockets. But this doesn’t mean basketball in the Mile High City has been forgettable.
The Nuggets were a pioneering team in the Western United States and became one of just four ABA teams to remain intact after the ABA/NBA merger in 1976. From Lefty Thomas wearing a ring on every finger during games to Paul Westhead using the altitude to try and run teams out of the gym, to hoping Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson could share the same basketball – the Nuggets did things differently.
