The Morning After: Malik Beasley starts hot in Denver Nuggets’ summer league win over Boston Celtics

LAS VEGAS — Because one can bet on anything in Sin City, the Denver Nuggets were tied with Minnesota for the worst odds to win NBA Summer League at 50/1.

But so far the Nuggets — who are playing in Las Vegas without 2018 lottery pick Michael Porter Jr. and second-rounder Jarred Vanderbilt — are 2-0 after topping Boston 82-69 Saturday night at Cox Pavilion.

Here are seven takeaways from the win:

1. Beasley’s breakout. After a “rusty” 3-of-10 shooting performance in Friday’s summer league opener against Minnesota, Beasley hit four of his first five shots (including a corner 3 and a nifty pull-up jumper) to score 11 points in the opening frame.
