OKLAHOMA CITY — Thunder star Russell Westbrook had led a rally against the Nuggets with his trademark pull-up jumpers and explosive drives to the bucket.
He sealed the win at the free-throw line.
The reigning league MVP scored 16 fourth-quarter points, including 1-of-2 free throws with less than three seconds remaining, to propel the Thunder to a 95-94 victory in front of a deafening crowd at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The loss dropped the Nuggets to 16-14 overall, 5-12 on the road and 1-1 against their Northwest Division rivals. Denver entered Monday in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
