PHILADELPHIA — The sellout home crowd at Wells Fargo Arena took every opportunity to break into raucous roars Monday night.
They cheered when the Nuggets’ Torrey Craig missed two free throws, yielding free Wendy’s frosty desserts for all in attendance. They cheered when 76ers rookie Markelle Fultz did, well, anything in his unexpected return from a shoulder injury that had kept the No. 1 overall draft pick out for the bulk of the season. And they cheered when Rookie of the Year contender Ben Simmons went coast-to-coast for a fourth-quarter layup to extend Phildelphia’s ballooning lead.
