The Nuggets are planning to promote assistant GM Calvin Booth to general manager however due to league’s the ongoing hiatus, there’s no timeframe to make the announcement official, according to two league sources.
Booth’s promotion was expected following the departure of former GM Arturas Karnisovas, who left the Nuggets after seven years to serve as the top executive of the Chicago Bulls.
Booth, a longtime friend of Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly, is in his third season with the Nuggets. Last season, Booth was a finalist to run the Minnesota Timberwolves. Before coming to Denver, Booth rose to the Director of Pro Personnel for the Timberwolves.
