Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr. agree to five-year, max extension, source says

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to a five-year max rookie extension with forward Michael Porter Jr., a league source told The Denver Post.

The deal is worth up to $172 million unless Porter reaches designated max criteria, which could take the deal to $207 million, a second source said, who added there are no player options on the deal.

“The neat thing about extensions are there’s no acrimony,” Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly said on Monday when asked the status of Porter’s contract extension before news broke.

“When you have extension talks, it should be nothing but smiles because it’s indicative of a relationship that doesn’t have to yet be extended but we’re looking to do so,” Connelly said.
