BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Last season, Nuggets coach Michael Malone scoured the D-League, keeping up on whatever talent was out there to be plucked. He kept coming back to one player in particular: Sean Kilpatrick.
The Nuggets eventually signed him and kept him for two 10-day contracts before letting him go. Brooklyn picked him up, and this season he’s blossoming into one of the NBA’s best success stories.
Kilpatrick, undrafted in 2014 out of Cincinnati, is now averaging over 16 points per game as a regular rotation player for the Nets. He scored 22 against the Nuggets on Wednesday night in Brooklyn’s win.
