Denver Post sports writer Nick Kosmider posts his Nuggets Mailbag every other Tuesday during the regular season.
Why did the Nuggets trade for Roy Hibbert? He pretty much just cheers the team on from the bench. What’s the deal?

Andrew: it’s a good question given that Hibbert has played exactly eight minutes since arriving in Denver after the trade deadline in February. The acquisition of the 7-foot-2 center was essentially a salary move for the Nuggets. Absorbing what was left on Hibbert’s one-year, $5 million deal moved Denver closer to the salary floor, which is 90 percent of the roughly $85 million dollar salary cap for this season.
