TORONTO — Jamal Murray admitted that Monday’s game was special to him.
A native of Kitchener, Ontario, Murray’s presence drew a pack of Canadian media for shootaround ahead of Denver’s game against Toronto, and the third-year guard fielded questions from everything to his national team status to his growing reputation as an edgy player.
Murray infamously irritated Boston’s Kyrie Irving earlier this season trying to reach the 50-point plateau, and the animosity he engenders from Los Angeles Lakers fans isn’t going away soon.
“It’s kind of weird because they call Canadians soft, and they always harp on that, and then now they call me evil,” Murray said.
