The Nuggets' search for their next head coach appears to be nearing a close. The known candidates are interim coach Melvin Hunt, former Suns, Knicks and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni and former Kings coach Mike Malone.
Malone is not a new entrant; he appeared on many initial lists connected with the search. But according to an ESPN.com report, Malone was granted a second interview with the Nuggets this week. With the NBA draft coming June 25, it's believed the Nuggets would like to finish their search soon to have the new coach help with preparations.
Malone coached 106 games in just over one season with the Kings, compiling a 39-67 record.
