SAN ANTONIO — Down 3-2, it’s the Spurs who should play with a sense of desperation in Thursday’s Game 6.
Don’t tell the Nuggets that, though. They’re treating it like they’re on the brink of elimination.
“Tonight is our Game 7,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said from shootaround. Even though the Nuggets would still have a chance to close the series in a theoretical Game 7, Malone doesn’t want that thought entering his players’ minds.
“You can’t, as a young team, go out there saying, ‘Well, we always have Game 7,’” he said. “If you go into the game with that crutch, good things are not going to happen.
