HOUSTON — Though the Nuggets played in several cities in front of thousands of fans in the preseason, they remained somewhat of an enigma to many in their own town, who didn't get a chance to see them. So Wednesday's season opener was an unveiling of sorts, the first look at the new Nuggets.
And they did not disappoint.
Danilo Gallinari led five Nuggets in double figures with 23 points as they stunned the Houston Rockets 105-85 at the Toyota Center. They never trailed in the game.
While individuals were in the spotlight — new coach Michael Malone, new point guard Emmanuel Mudiay — it was defense that stole the show.
