Nuggets coach Michael Malone, teammates defend Nikola Jokic: “Not like he’s on an island”

The rampant noise around Nuggets franchise center Nikola Jokic hasn’t changed the way his best friend diagnoses the situation.

“He knows he’s not playing that good,” said Juancho Hernangomez, Jokic’s closest confidant on the roster. “He knows he’s our key. He has to shoot a lot of times because when he shoots, when he’s aggressive, a lot of good things happen. I’m not really worried about him. I know he’s really smart. He’s going to figure it out.”

Hernangomez’s assessment could roughly translate to the way Nuggets coach Michael Malone views Jokic’s recent play, which confounded observers until the second half of Saturday’s win in Orlando.
