NEW ORLEANS – Midway through the second half of Sunday’s humbling pounding by the Pelicans, Nuggets guard Bones Hyland got off Denver’s bench and headed toward the scorer’s table.
Hyland, who played five minutes total and not once in the second half, was going for a piece of candy.
As Jose Alvarado lit the Nuggets’ defense on fire, Hyland was benched for the second half of Denver’s 121-106 loss to the Pelicans.
Alvarado torched whichever defender the Nuggets tried on him for a career-high 38 points, including eight 3-pointers, and was largely responsible for the glaring bench disparity in the loss.
