Denver Nuggets assistant coach Ed Pinckney storied hoops background. He played his college ball at Villanova and in the 1985 college championship game, Pinckney scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead his team over Patrick Ewing’s Georgetown Hoyas.
Pinckney retired in 1997 and joined Villanova’s coaching staff in 2003 as an assistant. His first NBA coaching gig came with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2007; he worked under three different head coaches in three seasons: Randy Wittman (Wizards current head coach), Kevin McHale and Kurt Rambis. Tom Thibodeau hired Pinckney in 2010 with the Chicago Bulls, and he was there until joining the Nuggets this season.
