Nuggets and president Tim Connelly navigating murky waters in search of missing playoff piece

Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly made one thing clear Tuesday: The cornerstones of Denver’s roster are in place. Nikola Jokic, Paul Millsap, Jamal Murray and Gary Harris square the court up nicely.

What’s missing?

“One more win would be nice,” Connelly said.

Fair enough.

The Nuggets have missed the playoffs by a single game in back-to-back seasons, most recently losing a winner-take-all Game 82 at Minnesota that went to overtime. A year earlier, it was the Trail Blazers taking the eighth spot in the west, and despite Denver’s best efforts to thwart a repeat by signing Millsap, a free agent and four-time all-star with the Hawks, the Nuggets still found themselves watching the postseason from home for the fifth straight year.
