In an extraordinary measure, the NBA announced Wednesday it was suspending the 2019-20 season “until further notice” after a member of the Utah Jazz tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The test result was reported just before the tip of Wednesday night’s game between the Jazz and Thunder in Oklahoma City. The game was canceled after the test results were confirmed, according to the league, and the affected player was not in the arena.
The season will be suspended following the conclusion of Wednesday night’s games, the league announced.
“The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic,” the league’s announcement said.
