If it weren’t for her son, who the Nuggets drafted with the No. 26 pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night, she wouldn’t even watch basketball. But Marshay understands where his infectious energy comes from. To the blacktops of Wilmington, Del., he’s Bones. He’s theirs.
“For Wilmington, he means a rare hope,” said Marshay, a day after NBA commissioner Adam Silver broke the news to a 300-person draft party that Bones was headed to Denver.
“He exudes strength, perseverance,” she said. “… It’s like he’s carrying a torch for Wilmington.
