Jamal Murray’s 36 points powers Nuggets past Suns on the road

PHOENIX — Had Jamal Murray kept his masterpiece to the offensive end, it still might’ve been enough for the Nuggets to win.

Instead, it was his defense that served as one of the defining plays of Denver’s 117-108 win over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night. Murray got his entire palm on a Ricky Rubio attempt late in the fourth quarter, then swerved his way downcourt before finishing off the transition layup. His bucket gave the Nuggets a commanding 105-96 lead with 4:10 left.

They fought off a tenacious Suns squad the rest of the way, improving to 37-16 overall and 17-10 away from Pepsi Center.
