At 6-foot-8 and impeccably dressed, it’s easy to picture Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas lording over basketball decisions and impressing his European imprint on a franchise.
It’s much harder — and rarer — to see Karnisovas’ lighter side considering the competitiveness he still has, even as an executive.
After seven years in Denver, first as the assistant general manager and now as the GM, Karnisovas is finalizing a deal to become the Chicago Bulls’ new executive VP of basketball operations, league sources say. He’s been a finalist for similar roles twice before, once with Milwaukee and again with Brooklyn, but both times remained in Denver helping to craft a Western Conference contender.
