Veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas has agreed to sign a one-year, veteran’s-minimum contract with the Denver Nuggets, a league source confirmed to The Denver Post Thursday night.
The move fills the spot of need at a reasonable price. But it also means Denver must clear a roster spot sometime before the start of the 2018-19 season. In an effort to move closer to the $123 million luxury tax, Denver could explore making a salary-dump trade, likely involving the expiring contracts of Kenneth Faried ($13.8 million) or Darrell Arthur ($7.5 million).
Thomas’ career has experienced extreme highs and lows over the past two seasons.
