The Denver Nuggets of the 1980's heaved their last dying breath in April of 1990, after a three game sweep to the San Antonio Spurs, in the first round of the playoffs. The Nuggets new ownership (which had changed hands three times in the previous year and would remain in flux until 1992) wanted a change.
