Denver Nuggets second-round draft pick Thomas Welsh has signed a two-way contract, the team announced Thursday afternoon.
Welsh, the 58th overall pick in last month’s NBA draft, averaged 12.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists during his senior season at UCLA. He averaged six points, four rebounds and one assist in two summer league games for Denver, but missed time in Las Vegas with a shoulder injury.
“We think his unique style can eventually translate to the NBA court,” Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly said on draft night. “We’re kind of looking for ‘awkward’ skill sets late in the second round, and I think Welsh fits that mold.
