BROOKLYN, N.Y. — First the crowd inside the Barclays Center groaned when the Brooklyn Nets’ Jarrett Allen could not slam home an alley-oop pass, shaking his head as he hung on the rim.
The audible frustration grew seconds later, when the Denver Nuggets’ Wilson Chandler drilled a 3-pointer from the right wing to push his team’s lead to 22 points.
That sequence perfectly captured the Nuggets’ decisive third quarter, propelling them to a 124-111 victory Sunday night to even their record to 3-3.
Denver outscored Brooklyn 40-21 in the third quarter, including a 22-6 run to start the period to flip a halftime deficit into a comfortable advantage.
