Rather than duck out of the Nuggets’ locker room and veer left, down a long corridor that leads to the court, Denver’s newest acquisition, Nick Young, was aimlessly wandering toward the floor using the path typically reserved for the visiting team.
Young, 33, had made the short, familiar trek before on numerous visits to the Pepsi Center, most recently with the Warriors and Lakers.
That scene played out on Monday night prior to the Nuggets’ game against the Grizzlies, the same day the Nuggets signed Young via a hardship injury relief exception. The Nuggets, down three starters, a key reserve and two rookies, qualified for the provision due to a plethora of injuries.
