Nuggets nation took a crushing blow last Friday when news broke Ty Lawson's day-to-day injury became worse than expected. Reports surfaced and Nuggets faithful cringed at the words "plantar fascia tear". While he is still listed as day-to-day, everyone assumes Lawson will miss significant time. Here are the optimistic, pessimistic, and realistic thoughts regarding Ty Lawson's injury.

Optimistic Approach
"This is why we re-signed Andre Miller last summer. He was already the best backup point guard in the NBA and now he will get to prove his worth. Besides, some are saying Lawson will only be out a "couple of weeks" and we won't even need him for the first round of the playoffs." -Anonymous enthusiastic and completely biased Nuggets fan
Pessimistic Approach
"This is the end. Without Ty, we die. I saw Maurice Jones-Drew had a similar injury and he was out forever! Andre Miller is old and slow, he can't possibly replace Lawson on either end of the floor. We'll be lucky to keep the home seed in the playoffs and it would be a miracle if we won our first round matchup. With Ty's achilles and foot injuries it is crucial we shore up the point guard position with someone better than Julyan Stone as our third option. -Debby Downer from Saturday Night Live
Realistic Approach
The best assessment won't come from your biased friends or Debby Downer, but it does lie somewhere in between. Yes, Andre Miller is a solid replacement and just might be the best backup PG in the league but his defense on and off the ball is awful. Miller will be able to keep the offense flowing but defense should be the real concern. Miller would get abused on both ends by Chris Paul over the course of a seven game series, but he could hold his own just fine against the Conley/Bayless combo in Memphis. If Denver plays Golden State in the first round, Andre Miller will abuse Curry offensively but will get destroyed on defense. As a Nuggets fan, we have to hope for a first round series against Memphis or Golden State. A six or seven game series would give Lawson extra time to heal and prepare for round two.
